Dr. Richard Soley - Opening Keynote
Dr. Richard Mark Soley is Executive Director of the Industrial Internet Consortium and is responsible for the vision and direction of the organization. In addition to this role, Dr. Soley is Chairman and CEO of the Object Management Group (OMG) – an international, nonprofit computer industry standards consortium -- and Executive Director of the Cloud Standards Customer Council – an end-user advocacy group.
Previously, Dr. Soley was a cofounder and former Chairman/CEO of A. I. Architects, Inc., maker of the 386 HummingBoard and other PC and workstation hardware and software. Prior to that, he consulted for various technology companies and venture firms on matters pertaining to software investment opportunities. Dr. Soley has also consulted for IBM, Motorola, PictureTel, Texas Instruments, Gold Hill Computer and others. He began his professional life at Honeywell Computer Systems working on the Multics operating system.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A., Dr. Soley holds bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Nitish Shrivastava - Director, Engineering, HARMAN Connected Services
Recognized for his contributions in Artificial Intelligence and Security by the President of India and numerous government organizations, Nitish has amassed 18+ years of experience in research into artificial intelligence, data security, and system management. His standout contributions include building India’s first NLP bot for security agencies, Anti-piracy device, Embedded OS for low memory devices and peer to peer data sharing. Nitish is based out of Cupertino – CA, USA.
Joe Speed, CTO, ADLINK IoT Solutions & Technology
With over 25 years of experience in the technology field, Joe has become known as a leader and influencer in engineering, IoT, open source technology, autonomous vehicles and robotics. Joe currently serves as CTO of ADLINK’s IoT Solutions & Technology division, leading efforts in the field with customers and partners. Prior to ADLINK Joe worked at IBM where he helped start IBM IoT and made MQTT open standard and open source. He is most proud of launching #AccessibleOlli the “autonomous for all of us” project with CTA Foundation, IBM, Local Motors, and ADLINK’s #tech4good and #STEM contributions to make transportation accessible for all. Joe has won several awards, including “Best Mobility Product 2017” for his work on HMI for autonomous vehicles, Joe was named an automotive “Influencer of the Year” finalist at TU-Automotive 2017, and Joe has been recognized by Forbes as an “IoT Technology Leader”. Joe has been a voting member OASIS MQTT, CTA Self-Driving Vehicles Working Group, and Director IoT Linux Foundation.
Dan Yarmoluk Director of Business Development IoT, Data Science, ATEK Access Technologies, LLC
Dan Yarmoluk is the business and market development lead for ATEK's IoT products which include TankScan and AssetScan. Dan has been involved in analytics, embedded design and components of mobile products for over a decade with a focus on creating and driving IIoT automation, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance programs with technology with how analytics and business models intersect to drive added value and digital transformation. Industries served include: oil and gas, refining, chemical, precision agriculture, food, pulp and paper, mining, transportation, filtration, field services and distribution. He publishes his thoughts frequently and has a popular “All Things Data” Dr. Manjeet Rege of University of St. Thomas. He has an MBA and a finishing his Graduate Degree in Data Science. He has a forthcoming book on Industrial IoT and Asset Management will be published in late 2018.
Toby McClean - Director of IoT Technology and Innovation, ADLINK IoT Solutions and Technology
Toby is an Internet of Things (IoT) thought leader and has a passion for enabling innovative companies to understand and unlock the business value of the IoT. Toby has extensive experience helping organizations with IoT strategies, understanding the IoT software ecosystem, developing software / system architectures and simplifying the deployment of emerging edge and cloud-based technologies.
Toby is a frequent presenter at conferences on subjects relating to business value engineering, software architectures, software development processes, distributed real-time embedded systems, data connectivity and edge computing. Toby holds a M.C.S. in Software Engineering and a B.C.S. in Business and Management Systems from the Carleton University.
Nisarg Desai Product Manager, IoT at GlobalSign Inc.
Nisarg is a software engineer with experience in product management and leadership spanning the information and cybersecurity, hospitality services, and business consulting industries. As Product Manager of IoT at GlobalSign, Nisarg is responsible for leading product development of GlobalSign’s IoT and Industrial IoT products; for market analysis of the IoT security space, developing technology and business partnerships, defining IoT product needs, as well as overall product development. He is actively involved in several IoT industry groups including the Industrial Internet Consortium.
Paul Pazandak - Director of Research at Real-Time Innovations
Paul Pazandak, Director of Research at Real-Time Innovations, actively leads RTI's efforts to acquire and execute government-funded research. Our team is pushing the edge in the area of real-time complex distributed systems, cybersecurity, data analytics, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT). We execute on a few million in funding each year. Our customers and technology collaborators include the DOE, DoD, DARPA, National Labs (PNNL, ORNL, BNL, FNAL), A&D corporations, energy utilities, academia, and small edge-leading companies. RTI is a leading vendor of an open standards, secure, real-time communications DataBus. Our software is running in critical infrastructure and critical systems around the world. The research group is focused on leveraging its funding to deliver next-generation technology and solutions to RTI’s customers.
Ken Hoyme - Director, Product Security at Boston Scientific
Mr. Hoyme has 33 years’ experience in the design of regulated safety-critical secure systems. Recently returning to Boston Scientific, he works with internal and external stakeholders to drive and improve processes and practices for pre- and post-market cybersecurity risk management across the company’s products and services. Hoyme is past co-chair of AAMI’s Device Security Working Group and a member of AAMI’s BI&T Editorial Board.
Mr. Hoyme spent 3.5 years at Adventium Labs, performing government funded research on the intersection of safety and security for cyber-physical systems. Prior to joining Adventium Labs, Mr. Hoyme was a Senior Fellow at Boston Scientific where he was the systems lead for the development of the LATITUDE Remote Patient Management system.
Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Ken spent 18 years at Honeywell’s Corporate Research lab, where he was a Senior Fellow in their real-time computer systems group. He was awarded the H.W. Sweatt Award, Honeywell’s highest technical recognition for his work on the Boeing 777.
Ken has been granted 40 US and 9 International patents. He is a member of IEEE and INCOSE. He received the Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
David Madden Senior Director of Business Development, Gemalto
David Madden is the Senior Director of Business Development for Gemalto’s Enterprise & Cybersecurity BU, where he works with the company’s strategic business partners to create security solutions that solve critical Data protection problems from devices to the cloud.
He has been in the security space for the past 20 years, working with the world’s largest cloud service providers, business partners & industry experts to help them secure their eBusinesses in areas of Data Protection, ID Management, Access control, Encryption & Web Services.
Prior to security, Dave managed new business initiatives in the areas of network computing, video conferencing & multimedia applications for Nortel & Corel Corporation. Dave holds a B.ASc in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo & an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University, both in Ontario, Canada.
Josh Jabs - Intro and Kickoff
Joshua is a technology executive specializing in converting market disruption and organizational change into growth opportunities. He is responsible for emerging technologies at Entrust Datacard and general management of the IOT business. Previously, he provided leadership for Entrust Datacard’s government solutions, security technologies, and alliance programs. Prior to joining Entrust Datacard in 2009 he directed investor engagements as an equity analyst in the Security and Financial Technology sectors at Piper Jaffray and Roth Capital Partners and held roles within the U.S. government in areas dealing with emerging technology investments and security research. He holds an MBA, master’s degree in electrical engineering, and received a bachelor in electrical engineering from the United States Air Force Academy.
Todd Wilkinson - Welcome Address
Todd Wilkinson is President and Chief Executive Officer of Entrust Datacard. Under his leadership, Entrust Datacard has expanded its position in the Payments and Information Security markets. In 2014, he ushered in a new era for the company as Datacard Group acquired Entrust and became Entrust Datacard. The combining of expertise from both organizations was noted and recognized by industry analysts including Gartner, which called out the company as a Visionary in its Magic Quadrant.
Mr. Wilkinson first joined the company a decade ago as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. He has served as President and CEO since 2008. Previously he held executive roles at General Electric after beginning his career at USG Corporation. Mr. Wilkinson holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University.
Ranjeet Khanna - ioTrust by Entrust Datacard
Ranjeet Khanna, Director Product Management – IoT and Embedded Security, is a technology executive specialized in delivering technology-led business innovation in the domain of digital security and data analytics. Thomas J. Burke - OPC Foundation President & Executive
Thomas J. Burke is the OPC Foundation President & Executive Director. Mr. Burke has a bachelor’s degree in theoretical mathematics from John Carroll University (Cleveland, Ohio), and a master’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Dayton (Dayton, Ohio). Mr. Burke has spent the majority of his career developing hardware, software and firmware for industrial automation, spending most of his career at Rockwell Automation. Mr. Burke is the founding father of the OPC Foundation (started in 1995). He has spearheaded the vision of OPC and has pioneered OPC UA as the foundation and solution for multivendor multiplatform secure reliable information integration interoperability from the embedded world to the enterprise. Steve Hoffenberg, Director of Industry Analysis, IoT & Embedded Technology at VDC Research
Steve is a leading industry analyst who brings his expertise to Embedded Systems and The Internet of Things. He has more than two decades of experience in market research and product management for technology products and services. At VDC, Steve covers industry trends, market sizing, marketing strategy, and competitive analysis, for a variety of IoT-related technologies, including embedded systems, security, wireless communications, cloud platforms, and data analytics. Prior to joining VDC, he spent 10 years as Director of Consumer Imaging and Consumer Electronics Research at the market research firm Lyra Research. Previously, he worked in product management for electronic design companies that developed and licensed embedded digital imaging and audio products. Steve holds an MS degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a BA degree from the University of Vermont.
Darek Kominek - Marketing Leader for Matrikon (Honeywell)
Darek is the Marketing Leader for Matrikon (Honeywell), helping vendors, system integrators, and end-users capitalize on using OPC UA as the data connectivity foundation for their products, projects and infrastructure. As a member of the OPC Foundation Marketing Control Board, Darek helps drive OPC UA adoption, presenting globally on behalf of the OPC Foundation, fostering collaboration with other standards organizations, and publishing articles around the advantages of using OPC UA in the IIoT/Industrie4.0/M2M space. Former roles with Matrikon include product management, strategic marketing and sales. Previously he was also a software engineer with Hewlett Packard, GE and owned and operated a software consulting firm. Darek is a professional engineer and combines 15+ years industry knowledge with a bachelor degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta.
